“The style of the figure is influenced by Cycladic fertility figures, early Byzantine, iconic paintings and folk art to name a few. The figure acts as the canvas or setting for the images that I use to tell a narrative. These figures are my attempt to explore our universal quest to understand the directions our lives go. Using images such as birds and plants, as metaphors for mythic flight, spirituality, the intangible, and natures forces I am hoping to bring my personal searching into a more shared exploration”

Born in Newark, NJ, Robin Grebe achieved her BFA in ceramics at the Massachusetts College of Art and her MFA in glass/ceramics from the Tyler School of Art in Elkins Park, PA in 1985. Well respected in the art community Grebe has had sculptures exhibited at or collected by the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH; the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art, Japan; the Morris Museum, Morristown, NJ; the Taft Museum of Art, Tucson, AZ to name a few.
