Clifford Rainey was born in Northern Ireland, and attended the Hornsey College of Art, the North East London Polytechnic School of Sculpture, and the Royal College of Art in England from 1971-1973. Rainey is artist of the world and has exhibited internationally for over 35 years. Clifford Rainey has been a professor at California College of Arts and Crafts since 1991.

Rainey is a multi-talented artist who does exquisite drawings, powerful sculpture, and is capable of executing large-scale installations including; the Jeddah Monument: in Saudi Arabia; the Liverpool Railway Station, England and the 911 Communications Center in San Francisco. Rainey’s strong concept-based sculptures demonstrate the range of Contemporary Glass in the hands of this talented artist.

Rainey’s work is in prominent private and public collections around the world, including the Los Angeles County Museum; the DeYoung Museum, San Francisco; the Museum of Modern Art, NY; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Ulster Museum, Belfast, Northern Ireland; the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Montreal; Municipal Gallery, Dublin, Ireland; Veste Coburg Museum, Coburg, Germany; and the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth, Australia.
