Don Reitz

Born in 1929, Don Reitz is recognized as one of the most important and influential ceramic artists of this century. The American Craft Council awarded him their gold metal for excellence. Reitz is credited for reviving interest in the technique of salt-fired clay and has served as a mentor to thousands of ceramic artists. His work is represented in the collections of museums throughout the country. Don Reitz’s 50 year career is

Don Reitz was in a near-fatal car accident in l982, the resulting injuries restricted him from throwing large-scale work such as this fabulous planter from 1979.
